We understand that the objectives of this project are clear and realistic and the topic is relevant for such a project. The objectives are consistent with the objectives of the Program and KA1. Fundamentally, we have worked to assess the potential of traditional intelligence games, collaborative work, meeting and intercultural and intergenerational coexistence, as means to build a more resilient, integrated, European and supportive community. The approach that we have followed starts from our real context, starting from a background as a youth group and with objectives that we return to below. CONTEXT The Canary Islands have two million inhabitants. The island of Fuerteventura about one hundred and twenty thousand inhabitants. The Canarian and insular economy is based on the service sector, tourism predominates along with construction, intensive activities in low-skill labor and wages. In addition, these sectors of activity suffer periodic crises. The Archipelago and Fuerteventura continue to lead in school dropout and youth unemployment, within Spain and the European Union as a whole. In this context we find a heritage of high formative value: traditional intelligence games. Until the eighties, when the construction-tourism pairing became our economic engine, traditional subsistence farming activities occupied a good part of the population. And one of the traditional leisure activities was intelligence games, which have survived, with great difficulty, until today. These games, of African origin and "exported to the Canary Islands and Europe by the Romans", more than 5,000 years old, are a tool that is somewhat unknown to the general public, but in the Canary Islands they have survived, recorded in sites, houses, spaces communal, and in memory of our elders. We have been collaborating for years in the research, recovery and dissemination of this intangible heritage, holding various exhibitions, courses, meetings, conferences, etc. BACKGROUND Just before the pandemic, and presenting this Erasmus Project, in January 2020, we were with an approved teacher training course, and we held, in the town of Tefía, a conference and an informative workshop with several local neighborhood associations, counting with the assistance of local authorities and a group of young African immigrants staying at the village youth hostel. These activities, with teachers, neighbors, old and young, locals and foreigners, were an extraordinary verification of the integration of young and old, from different cultures, through games thousands of years old. And we elaborate and present a research, training and dissemination project in the schools of Fuerteventura. There was nothing foreshadowing that we were going to encounter the COVID-19 pandemic. Summarizing these last two years of forced stoppage: nothing has returned to the same as before the pandemic. JUSTIFICATION This project intends, through a series of non-formal and informal activities, to promote socio-economic integration in communities with a low level of educational development. The skills, tools and activities that we carry out with the Traditional Intelligence Games provide us with means of personal development, socialization and employability in disadvantaged socio-economic environments, opening a window from the local community past to the future of Europe together. GENERAL OBJECTIVE Value non-formal and informal knowledge, abilities, skills and competencies in young people who live in hostile spaces for formal educational development, through a set of practical and enjoyable activities as a source of the development of various vital competencies. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: Give tools to these young people with the use of games. Empower young people who have abandoned formal education itineraries through knowledge of skills, competencies and skills (transversal). Promote active citizenship in general and European citizenship in particular (transversal) among young people. Strengthen the constant and lifelong learning process through systematic reflection using non-formal methodologies (assessments). Develop solidarity and promote tolerance among young people, in particular, in order to foster social cohesion in the European Union (transversal, activators, games, group dynamics, meetings with third parties). Reinforce basic personal skills (transversal). Foster mutual understanding between young people from different countries (transversal, international nights). Experiment with new mechanisms for acquiring knowledge through practical activities through which to learn by doing (workshops, presentations).
