Objectives

This project is a follow-up to our previous project "Arts Empowering Youth Work" 2018-1-FI01-KA205-047136. The project involved the partners Arci la Quercia (IT) and Arttrain (DK). The aim of the project was to promote non-formal education through the participatory art method as a tool for youth work. This was done both through research carried out in the project and by training 15 youth workers and artists from different disciplines to use participatory art methods in their work. The use of professional artists (music, percussion, dance, ether, circus, visual arts, etc.), who at the same time have a long experience in youth work, as facilitators and trainers in different international projects has been our method for almost 15 years and for Arttrain up to 20 years. Participatory art workshops combined with non-formal education have proven to be a good method for working with young people, especially those with different backgrounds, barriers and difficulties in their personal lives and environment. In our experience, the collaborative creative process in participatory art workshops is an excellent accelerator for promoting language skills, social skills, empowerment and inclusion, among others. With this current project "Non Formal Education Through Arts" we wanted to contribute to the quality of youth work. The aim was to build a new network around the above mentioned methodology. The project involved European youth organisations and associations and one school from Turkey. All partners were united by an interest in non-formal and participatory arts-based methods with a view to learning and developing their own skills and integrating this methodology into their own activities. The project also aimed to share knowledge and know-how, in particular on the opportunities for international activities in the fiels of youth work under the Erasmus+ programme. As the network only exists if its members have international cooperation projects such as youth exchanges, the participants of this project formed groups to plan youth exchange projects and to write Erasmus+ funding applications. The project had two phases of activities. Activity 1: 1. a networking event for youth workers/organisations to share good practices in international work with young people. 2. exploring the above mentioned previous project and the resulting Arts Empowering Youth Work e-book 3. Learning about non-formal and participatory art methods by participating in four workshops facilitated by professional artists in their field (music, percussion, dance, community theatre) 4. Learning about the Erasmus+ programme and application guidelines + project planning in small groups Activity 2: 1. Continued network development (web site) 2. discussed the creation/planning of a youth exchange project, the preparation of the Erasmus+ application, project management, the roles of the facilitators and project leader, the project's management, the project's implementation, reporting and the project's follow-up. 3. A further review of the Erasmus+ programme guidelines in outline and the start of writing project applications 4. A total of 11 project applications were produced, some of which were submitted in spring 2022, some in October 2022 and the rest will be ready for the first round of 2023.
