Statistically speaking, rural areas in Europe are suffering from brain drain and this is directly linked to the fact that more and more young people are leaving rural areas to urban or bigger cities in quest of diverse opportunities that their rural areas seem to be unable to offer them. From education to entertainment, cultural & professional, many are the reasons why young people from rural & isolated areas move to bigger cities in order to get these missing opportunities. Consequently, rural areas in Europe are ending up depopulated and late on development as compared to urban areas. The COVID19 pandemic has also further worsened the situation. This TC focuses on improving youth workers' skills on how to foster youth participation in rural areas through various ways such as youth entrepreneurship in order to curb youth unemployment in rural areas and reduce the depopulation of rural areas. We, therefore, seek to equip the participants of this TC with skills to train & sensitize their youth on the topic of rural development, rural entrepreneurship and most specifically, how youth workers and young people can contribute to the development of European rural areas through various actions and campaigns. Our training course will enhance the sharing of experiences and practices about rurality, community development & opportunities through which the youth can contribute to the development of rural areas in Europe. We aim to empower the youth workers with skills that will help them contribute to the sensitization of their young people on how to contribute positively to the building of sustainable communities in Europe and most specifically rural areas. We want to train the youth workers as catalysts that will, in turn, equip their young people with tools & skills that will make them ready and available for opportunities in rural areas, grassroots communities & isolated European areas in order to develop those areas. Through workshops & local visits to rural areas and innovative entrepreneurial ventures led by young people or youth workers, we believe that a TC that unites a consortium of EU Youth Workers working on rurality issues with young people will permit a well constructed & productive project where sessions to develop tools will be enriched by various experiences and ideas on how to train young people from rural areas to contribute to the development of their community through various ventures. The main objectives of this project are to: 1- Equip 30 youth workers with adequate nonformal education methods & tools that will make them catalysts of change in the development of EU rural areas 2- Reduce youth unemployment in European rural areas through youth participation & rural entrepreneurship 3- Empower participating youth to participate in community building through different actions & campaigns 4 - Create a toolkit and a video that will contain tools and methods that will help youth workers engage & empower European youth to develop their rural areas through entrepreneurial ventures and various engaging activities
