For our first experiences, Association Terre d'espoir Sénégal Europe Aquitaine wanted to work on this project about European belonging with the use of sports practices. We have always wanted to involve our members in similar projects because these themes are among the major concerns for our organization. And we work on it with the young people and their respective families. The acquisition by young people of a real sense of belonging to Europe implies the acquisition of certain skills and competences, such as respect for cultural diversity, attitudes of tolerance and understanding of other cultures. While multiculturalism aims at the preservation of each culture individually, intercultural dialogue requires common bonds and foundations between different cultures, communities and peoples, promoting understanding and interaction. Intercultural dialogue therefore plays an increasingly important role in promoting identity and is essential to avoid situations of conflict and marginalization. And we are strongly involved in similar activities and this has given us more visibility in the French society. Thus, discovering and understanding our culture allows us to know ourselves as people, communities and societies, through dialogue and collaboration of all citizens. The active participation of youth is essential to preserve culture, foster social integration, improve intercultural understanding and a sense of belonging to the community. The main objectives of this project were the following: 1. To promote intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding between young people from different countries through the practice of sports. 2. To strengthen the knowledge and acceptance of diversity and tolerance in society. 3. To give the possibility to identify common values with people from different countries despite their cultural differences. 4. To make participants aware of other cultures and countries by giving them the opportunity to build international networks of contacts. 5. To promote the inclusion and active participation of young people with fewer opportunities in the project. 6. To raise awareness of the Erasmus+ program and the opportunities it offers to young people. 7. To get to know the different sports practices of the participating countries This project allowed young people from five countries to share various aspects of their culture as well as various traditional sports games as a promotion of multicultural understanding closely linked to their personal and social development. This allowed us to learn about themselves and other cultures beyond cultural, sporting, social or language barriers. Other themes, such as intercultural dialogue, multiculturalism and mutual understanding were addressed needs such as the promotion and participation of young people with fewer opportunities in international projects, especially those living in rural areas, in order to learn about diversity, improve understanding of other cultures and develop skills and good social practices.
