Conscious Future with partner organizations from St. Maarten, Turkey and Hungary implemented ‘Save Future’ youth exchange, because climate change is one of the biggest collective, environmental challenge society faces nowadays; we believe young people need to be empowered in order to make their voice heard in the climate debate and their ideas and perspectives included. Learning from each other, and understanding each other’s roles in the larger picture of the climate crisis is not only optimal, it is essential. We are convinced that the youth exchange was meaningful opportunity for enhanced youth participation, cooperation and find solutions together for common good. Young people benefited from this project and helped empower them to turn negative climate change into innovative solutions and job opportunities. During the exchange, we inspired and empowered young people to become climate youth ambassadors, who will be able to advocate for climate solutions with decision makers. Connecting youth and decision makers in dialogue is an important step toward learning how to work together on common issues toward common solutions. The activity was a 10 days youth exchange which involved 36 participants from France, Hungary, St. Maarten (NL), and Turkey in the age between 18 to 30 years old with interest in photography. It consisted of two main parts. First were empowering participants with advanced digital and initiative skills to enhance their employability and keep up with developments in new technologies and especially in information communication technology. Second part of activity is to empower participants with social and civic competences and contribute to resolving of social issues and needs of European society. All workshops followed the values and principles of non-formal education in European practice. The main objectives of our project were as follows: - Empowering selected participants from involved countries to address common issues on climate change and to take active part in finding solutions for a more sustainable future - Promote photography as a tool of protecting environment and teaching participants digital skills; advanced usage of photo equipment and photography, photojournalism - Raising participants civic and social competence by involving them in local community and working on social issues - Providing an online platform for sharing of information, debating and creating network among youth, while offering opportunities to develop strategies and solutions to climate change. - Promotion of social inclusion, solidarity and empathy for marginalised groups of European community - Encourage youth to further influence media in the topic of ecology in their own countries.
