Objectives

We wanted to carry out this project because, as different renowned authors like Daniel Goleman, Daniel J. Siegel or Arnold Mindell, we found emotional work, a pending subject, in our societies. Since our childhood, we were taught to suppress our emotions in the process of socialization, deeply affecting our welfare and conditioning our capacity to interact with each other. During our daily work with young people, we have identified how this has affected them: it makes young people difficult to identify and express their needs, to know themselves, to have empathy, to control their negative emotions, etc. Emotional management is a field in which we needed to broaden our services, since many young people were suffering from social distress and anxiety. We also found that resilience was a key-element for successful development, not only on a personal level, but also in the professional, since it facilitated taking initiatives or the entrepreneurial spirit of youth. Resilience was an urgent issue to be included in our youth work, since it helped us improve the personal growth, proactive attitude, positive development and employability of youngsters. An efficient resilience, lies in the personal, inner and emotional world of every individual: -Having the capacity to face the given situations and challenges -Practicing appropriate and healing ways of dealing with the direct inner emotional response -Moving on to contributing in a proactive way -Continuing, reflecting and adjusting actions, when obstacles such as practical, relationship/communication or inner struggles occur. We needed to provide our youth workers with emotional management tools and skills, so that they can develop a more human and efficient youth work, confronting the young people’s situations and supporting them in their daily lives, in terms of personal and professional issues. Our needs have been covered by achieving the main objectives of our project: 1. Promoting and improving a better understanding and identification of emotions and offering the proper knowledge and tools for their management in our youth work. Emotional management constitutes a basic resource for life, both psychologically and socially, having better communication and interaction with others and oneself. Young people who were subjected to systemised abuse, whether by age, gender, class or other characteristics especially benefited from the Emotional Management tools, facilitating their integration. The project also aimed to make visible these social oppressions. 2. Exchanging good practices about emotional promotion and deepening in the emotional management for young people. 3. Building up ideas leading to a future collaboration, in the framework of the different key actions of the Erasmus+ programme. 4. Exchange new and useful remote working tools, methods and ITCs, so that we managed future international relationships between the participating organisations.
