Objectives

This project is carried out by the Association Femmes Debout with its partners on a collective and playful initiative. The objective of the project was to help promote soft skills among youth from disadvantaged and at-risk backgrounds through the integration of board games into non-formal education programs. Soft skills play a major role in young people's future success in school, work, social inclusion and interpersonal relationships. The main objectives of this project were to - To promote contact between youth workers from different cultures, countries and backgrounds ; - To acquire and share knowledge, skills and competencies that allow for a thoughtful and consistent integration of board games into work with at-risk youth and youth from disadvantaged backgrounds; - Provide tools for youth workers to integrate board games into non-formal education plans with youth; - Identify the potential of board games to address the lack of certain soft skills; - Reuse games and gamification strategies to foster motivation and engagement with specific groups of youth; - Experiment with the home-grown board game and assess its strengths and weaknesses; - After personal evaluations, fine-tune the new board game(s) to maximize its/their intervention potential; - Collect examples of simple and more complex board games that can be applied in multiple situations, with multiple specific objectives and personal differences. "Board Games for Social Change" was born after years of social intervention with young people from different backgrounds. We realized how much easier it was when we used game-based education and gamification strategies. This project brought together participants from 07 different countries in two phases. This project was held in Paley, in an area where participants could carry out activities without any risk of being disturbed and with a dedicated space.
