Objectives

The COVID19 epidemic, which placed the world in lockdown for a long period, revealed to us the reality of a certain fragility of our educational methods. Indeed, with our partners, we shared the observation that youth workers and non-formal education actors are not able to ensure a rapid transition from traditional non-formal education to non-formal distance education. In other words: to adapt their work in an online environment including support, supervision and tutoring of young people. We wanted to further promote the use of digital technology in non-formal education and support young people's learning online. To do this, we acted on two aspects of training: 1- Capacity building of youth educators/ youth leaders) in terms of non-formal distance education, through the improvement of their digital skills, the development of their pedagogical methods applied at a distance, the diversification of their methods of education and support at a distance to adapt to unpredictable situations. 2- Modernization of the pedagogical tools of non-formal education in favor of young people and youth educators. The available tools have been updated in terms of form, content, design and interactivity to continue to meet the current and evolving needs of young people in an easy, autonomous and effective way. In order to act on the topics described, we set up two complementary training courses for youth educators and young leaders, active in non-formal education programmes, from 12 European organizations. The training courses were 10 days each and took place in Lefkas, Greece and Gagnières, France. With this project we wanted to achieve the following objectives - To identify the needs of youth workers and young people in terms of services and competences to provide or benefit from adapted support, training, coaching and/or mentoring at a distance. - To strengthen the personal and professional skills of youth workers, which are essential to support the learning and guidance of young people at a distance. - To share and mutualize our knowledge, experiences and reflections between European partners, in order to promote the transfer of good practices in the field of education and tutoring of young people at a distance, and to broaden our approaches and methods. - To integrate in one of our learning platforms the online interactive pedagogical booklet facilitating the self-development of youth workers/ young leaders, skills in terms of education, supervision, accompaniment and distance tutoring as well as the learning, accompaniment and tutoring tools that we would modernize for the well-being of young people and their socio-professional inclusion. - To improve our methods, upgrade our staff and modernize our teaching tools, then experiment with a representative group of the target audience before disseminating them on a large scale. This project is an extension of several European projects carried out by the members of the consortium during which youth educators were trained on non-formal distance education and created online and offline pedagogical tools that had an impact on a large number of beneficiaries (youth and educators). As a result of these training courses, the educators involved have developed specific skills and innovative educational methods to support young people's learning at a distance. They have created and shared key modern non-formal education tools, adapted to support young people, with different profiles, needs and capacities and/or from different socio-cultural and economic backgrounds. Furthermore, our project met the objectives and needs of all partners, working for non-formal education, inclusion, protection and empowerment of young people, especially those with fewer opportunities. It also responded to the needs and aspirations of youth professionals who want to train on the subject in order to increase the impact of their non-formal activities with young people. Our objectives also responded to the priorities of the Erasmus+ programme as they aimed at the development of young people of different profiles, as well as their socio-professional inclusion and continuous learning through the improvement of their skills in an e-learning context adapting to all environments and offering innovative educational solutions.
