This course has been designed for youth workers. The main objective of our project is to increase the competences of young people in the field of democracy, by their involvement in decision-making and consequently to increase the quality of decision-making and quality of life in their communities. We plan to reach this objective by educating youth workers for implementation of the participatory budgeting processes, so they can pass on the acquired knowledge to young people in their communities. In the training we will focus on the participatory budgeting process that we believe unites everything we want to achieve and process - education about the process, involvement in decision making, adjusting the budget to the real needs of citizens, preventing corruption and increasing transparency and increasing the quality of life. Other objective of this project are to: - Educate youth workers for implementation of the participatory budgeting (PB) process - Educate youth workers about the the key elements and possible obstacles in implementing the PB process - Build the capacity of the youthworkers to carry out the process of involving young people and motivate them to participate, think critically and advocate their own opinions - Build the capacity of partner organizations to monitor and evaluate the PB process - Prepare and design PB pilot processes by partner organizations - Train youth workers to apply participatory budgeting models in other areas of citizen involvement in decision-making processes - Create guidelines for the implementation of participatory budgeting models in organizations working with young people Through this project, we will provide youth workers with competences on how to educate young people to participate in democratic processes, and how to motivate them to participate, think critically, and express their opinions. One result is that, after the participants have passed on their knowledge, the young people will have a support system for launching new democratic processes, upgrading existing ones and transferring knowledge and experience to other citizens. This will have a multiplying effect. Likewise, as youth workers will be empowered and given the skills to participate effectively in democratic processes, they will also gain knowledge on how to initiate new democratic processes. Such one will be created within the project, in the form of a pilot action. Because of the above, the benefits of our participants' knowledge and experience will benefit their entire communities. Also, the acquired knowledge, skills and experience will help them in the work and management of their organizations, and at the same time will increase the capacities of the organizations themselves.
