The Picture of Nature youth exchange took place in Sint Maarten island from 12-19 December 2021 with 36 participants; Hungarian, Turkish and local young people. The project focused on raising awareness of the importance of environmental protection and sustainability through photography and visuality. Young people from three different countries, from three different cultures worked together for 8 days, thus getting to know each other and intercultural learning played an important role. The young Hungarian and Turkish participants encountered a culture in the host country that was very different from any in mainland Europe, and they were interested in it. The young participants from the host country and the local community were curious about the experiences of the young people and their sending countries. An intensive cultural exchange was thus achieved. All the original objectives of the project were met, namely: - To develop the digital skills of the participants, to learn basic photographic equipment during workshops, to acquire basic photojournalism skills by successfully completing the tasks. - Increased civic and social competences of participants through their involvement in the local community and work on social issues, promoting social inclusion, solidarity and empathy towards marginalised groups in the European community, and greater involvement of marginalised groups and members in the local and international community. Through workshops and activities, participants addressed climate change issues, found creative solutions, became more aware and learned how to raise awareness of ecological and social issues at local, national and international levels through training, campaigns, advocacy and the use of online platforms and social media.
