Because Europe's intercultural diversity is not emphasized in school curricula, young people are often unaware of it. This problem is compounded by the fact that most teachers lack intercultural competences, which prevents them from adapting to this changing situation. Non-formal education is an even greater victim of this situation: youth work remains unrecognized in many countries and, where it is recognized, most youth workers lack the necessary skills, innovative methods and tools to deal with it effectively. As a result, they often find it difficult to engage young people from different cultural backgrounds, even if they are part of society. If this situation persists, it can fuel stereotypes, prejudice, hate speech, discrimination, conflict and cultural segregation. In our view, equipping youth workers with modern and creative approaches and tools can help to create a more conducive learning environment for young people, encouraging them to participate in educational activities. To this end, we will introduce youth workers from culturally diverse regions to a range of methods and tools that can be used effectively to develop their competence in working with young people from different cultural backgrounds. Our planned training will take a participatory approach, giving participants the opportunity to learn about a range of innovative methods and tools that they can incorporate into their future work. The primary aim of the project is to increase the youth workers' knowledge of interculturality and intercultural communication, and to broaden their methodological toolbox, enabling them to better interact with young people in their local communities. In addition, the project aimed to support the daily work of youth workers by improving their knowledge and skills, by introducing them to different pedagogical approaches, teaching methods and online/offline tools. We also aimed to promote the ETS Competences Model and the European Youth Work Portfolio, and to create an environment in which participants could easily connect, exchange professional ideas and network, thus contributing to further initiatives in the field.
