Objectives

The youth exchange program was implemented based on the ideas and plans of 6 NGOs under the coordination of the Ecograf Association. The cooperating organizations sent five young people and one group leader from each country to the international program, which took place in Pécs between 20.07.2022 and 03.08.2022. The aim of the program was for the participants to jointly discover European and local traditional values and to get an idea of the cultural heritage related to them and their importance. In our intercultural program, the participants learned creative recycling techniques with the help of non-formal and informal educational methods in order to protect the environment and reduce waste. During the project, they worked in six workshops under the leadership of participating local professionals and youth helpers. The participants learned "slow" techniques and tangible activities in the individual workshops, which are based on traditions and meet the tastes and expectations of young people. In addition, the project encouraged young people to become entrepreneurs, set a good example for the useful use of free time, independent and creative living, and provided experience and knowledge for leading similar occupations. The short-term impact of the project was already visible during the programs - the most significant for the participants, workshop leaders, and organizers. As a long-term effect of the project, we achieved that the participants discover and appreciate the values of their environment, are able to actively participate in their protection by applying the learned techniques, and use the acquired knowledge and skills for their own prosperity. During the dissemination activities, we tried to spread the results of the project as widely as possible, as we consider it important to protect local and European values.
