In our former training courses, we learned that sustainable food was more and more important for the participants and at the same time reaching credible information on the topic was not so easy. We started a cooperation with Felelős Gasztrohős Alapítvány, who widened our professional approach and brought in new methodologies of awareness raising among young adults. During the crEATe! program we focused both on the learning path with new methodologies of Gasztrohős and on waste reduction. Therefore, we created the program in a way that it could be carried on, multiply and support the change in people’s everyday life in the long term. Our project had two pillars. One of them was waste reduction during the program in a way that we kept the high professional quality to show that these targets were possible to reach even in parallel. We used the methodology formed within ReCreativity through the years called: creative recycling, boosted with the area of gastronomy. The other pillar was sustainable lifelong learning. We presented and tried out the best practices on how we can ensure that the learning process is continuous. We used methods that we have practiced over the years, and we have found useful and effective combined with new approaches learnt from recent partnerships with Gasztrohős. We showed the trainers and youth workers how they could extend the learning process and the learning path and moreover how to ensure that the newly learnt methods and skills became part of their everyday life. We improved key competences (such as learning to learn, social and civic activism and entrepreneurship, creativity, language and digital competences) through the content and the program of the training course. Our whole approach kept in focus key competencies like an attitude of critical appreciation and curiosity, a concern for ethical issues and environmental sustainability.
