Objectives

We wanted to carry out this project to help young people to gain skills and competencies that are neglected in formal education that could have long-lasting positive effects on their lives and their communities. Many young people across the EU are feeling emotional imbalance, low self-esteem and a lack of confidence which creates anxiety, depression and other mental health issues which becomes more and more pressing problem within youth. Lack of self-expression leads to suffocation of our true self, and our inner voice while meditation and expressing our thoughts and feelings are leading us back to ourselves and leading to a healthier mental state. By doing and saying the things we truly mean we become aligned with who we really are which leads to a gain in self-awareness, self-acceptance and a to boost in our happiness, which is going to reflect in our outer world as well. Throughout the project, we aimed to raise awareness of this issue and prepare young people to tackle these. The aim of the project was: -to gain self-esteem and confidence in self-expression through various versatile participatory activities (arts, movement, verbal), -to strengthen the connection with themselves and reinforce the balance between their bodies and minds -to foster interpersonal connections and strong bonds -to make them more aware of their emotions and needs -to introduce them to healthy habits and basic therapeutic activities, that they can implement in their daily routine which can prevent/cure the most common mental health issues, and improve their lives for the better. -to gain self-esteem and confidence in self-expression through various versatile participatory activities (arts, movement, verbal) Through some activities we aimed to encourage young people to leave their comfort zone, to foster creativity, and innovation, and encourage them to dare to try something new. Most of the activities also aimed to boost improvisation skills and creativity, and the reflective activities aimed to gain self-awareness and development in empathy towards the self and towards others. We implemented this project because we deeply believed that it will help young people to become proactive, authentic, innovative and more healthy citizens. The objectives of the project were: -to plant the seeds of healthy habits that can improve the participants' physical and mental health, to contribute to long-term positive changes. (by introducing the benefits of mindful, body movement and self-expression activities) -to promote mindfulness and foster the connection with the authentic inner self, contribute to a healthy mental state and prevent mental health issues. -to gain self-esteem, and self-confidence and encourage young people to step out of their comfort zone and become proactive -to improve creativity, and problem-solving skills and encourage creative self-expression through arts and body movement -to improve collaborative skills and foster cooperation between young people from different fields and countries for a more cohesive society -to strengthen international connections and raise intercultural awareness in order to develop a sense of European citizenship and identity and make young people aware of the importance of inclusion and understanding -to promote lifelong learning, and self-development and support the modernisation of education by promoting nonformal learning -to foster professional development and improvement in youth work and for youth workers by sharing working methods and practices -to improve foreign language and communication skills
