Objectives

About the hosting and coordinating organisation: SEEDS is an Icelandic non-governmental, non-profit organisation with international scope that promotes cultural understanding through the work on nature-oriented, conservation and environmental issues. Frequently, the issue with a lack of engagement in environmental protection is the lack of access to information and education. Throughout various non-formal learning and volunteering activities, SEEDS aims to educate young people and provide them with tools to live more environmentally friendly. Aim and goals: This project's goal was to empower 24 young people from Iceland, Hungary, Portugal, and Romania (Székelys, an Hungarian minority group in Romania) to become actors in raising awareness towards nature conservation and promoting sustainable lifestyles by developing their photography skills and creating together a great, impactful photo material about environmental awareness, which could then be shared to the public in all 4 partner countries. Specific goals (as initially planned in the grant application): Ob. 1 - Strengthening collaboration in the youth field during a 10-month youth exchange (YE) project, together with 4 European NGOs, which activate in the youth and environment awareness field, involving 20 youngsters between 16-25 years and 4 youth leaders/country. Ob. 2 – Improving photography skills amongst 24 youngsters from 4 different countries, during a 10-day youth exchange project, taking place in Iceland, in April 2021. Ob 3 - Enlarging the knowledge and raising awareness of the participants towards national and European natural treasures by analysing and reflecting upon great and impact-full photo and video material from 4 different countries. Ob 4 - Creating and sharing a common message of the participants through joint photo material, which promotes environmental awareness. Ob 5. - Organising a photo exhibition in each participant partner country, which promotes the natural treasures of the regions, where the youngsters coming from and also focuses on a specific topic, concerning environmental awareness, developed throughout the 10-day YE project.
