Objectives

Women constitute 52% of the total European population while only around 30% are self-employed or entrepreneurs. Yet, according to the EU Commission, female entrepreneurship is a fertile ground when it comes to reaching EU’s economic growth. It is advised for this potential to be further developed in EU programme countries. The obstacles and barriers these women encounter are many, among which the top place take: general lack of confidence, limited access to funding, scarcity of opportunities to gain relevant information and education in the entrepreneurship sector, social stereotypes and the double role of women in the society. The consortium on this project aimed to support the professional development of youth workers by developing a specialized training that combined entrepreneurship education and mindfulness in order to equip youth workers working with young girls and women to be able to approach their target group in a way that it has motivated, inspired and promoted women entrepreneurship. Subsequently, developing such innovative educational training with a European scope, the project addressed this issue in a transnational way, thus increasing the potential participation and activation of young girls and women in the EU. The main activity of the project was a training for youth workers, it provided the youth workers with knowledge, tools and skills necessary for equipping young girls and women with much-needed entrepreneurship skills, information on opportunities, legislation and examples in the women entrepreneurship sector, all the while focusing on their mental health through mindfulness sessions. All learning activities are designed in accordance to the project’s objectives, respecting the main principles of the non- formal education and are in line with the general policies, objectives and priorities of the Erasmus+ programme. Additionally, the project promoted gender equality, women entrepreneurship and mindfulness meditation.
