Objectives

Conflicts ruin people's lives and leave lifelong scars. It also hinders the country's economic and social growth. Victims often don't know where to get the help they need, so surviving the horrors experienced is extremely difficult. Even the current wars in Europe and the world are hard to fathom. That's why it is essential to show solidarity to build strong democratic foundations throughout Europe. Erasmus + project "Peace at war" intended to develop a social dialogue to promote the peacebuilding process and coexistence between the conflicting sides. Moreover, it was vital to address conflict roots to seek peace and solutions that would confirm long-term stability. A1) A training course "Peace at war" was hosted in Lithuania, Vilnius on 04-10 of May 2022 (+2 travel days). It involved 22 youth workers from 6 different countries (Sweden, Romania, Lithuania, Cyprus, Georgia, Bosnia & Herzegovina). A2) A youth exchange "Peace at war" was held in Lithuania, Kaunas on 25-31 May (+2 travel days). It involved 36 young participants from 6 different countries (Sweden, Romania, Lithuania, Cyprus, Georgia, Bosnia & Herzegovina). The core aim of this project was to (1) build the capacity of youth workers to be more skilled and able to play a more vital role in building the foundations of democratic and peaceful societies, (2) improve young people’s creativity to become active agents of positive change. The goal of the project is for young participants to learn how to coexist peacefully and build the foundations of democratic and peaceful societies by: 1. Building young people’s understanding of peace and the need to be vocal actors in peacebuilding processes; 2. Promoting coexistence, human rights and social justice in dynamic societies across Europe; 3. Teaching skills and values contributing to peace among the young generation growing up in conflict and post-conflict environments; 4. Giving young people space and support to collectively reflect on and explore solutions that can help them discover their agency; 5. Enabling young people to engage in a diverse, connected and inclusive Europe. Moreover, the project linked to the Erasmus+ objectives by contributing to the following: 1. The objectives of the Europe 2020 Strategy, the reinforcing priorities for intelligent, sustainable and inclusive growth and the “Youth on the move” initiative; 2. The objectives of the strategic framework for European cooperation in education and training (ET 2020) by pursuing common EU objectives to a) make lifelong learning and mobility a reality, b) improve the quality and efficiency of education and training, c) promote equity, social cohesion, and active citizenship; and d) enhance creativity and innovation, including entrepreneurship at all levels of education and training; 3. The overall objectives of the renewed framework for European cooperation in the youth field by providing more and equal opportunities for young people in education and the labor market and encouraging young people to participate in society actively; 4. Promoting European values such as respect for human dignity, democracy, equality, the rule of law and human rights. Finally, the project also corresponded to specific KA1 objectives: 1) increased ability to address the needs of the disadvantaged; 2) better quality of youth workers’ activities in favor of young people; 3) broader understanding of youth work across countries; 4) improved foreign language competencies; and 5) increased motivation for taking part in future (formal/non-formal) education or training after the mobility period abroad.
