Racism is a common problem both in Luxembourg and European countries and it became serious due to Covid-19 as ethnic groups were held responsible for the spread of the virus, they were put under mandatory quarantine and were subjected to irregular fines according to the report "Controlling the Pandemic" published by Amnesty International. Harris (2007) states that diversity in the culture positively affects societies in economical and social way as well as reinforce European identity and build peace and respect for others; therefore an effective and constructive dialogue between people and cultures should be developed for empowering inclusiveness in the societies. Therefore as ChangeMakers Luxembourg, working with people from different ethnic groups, decided to organise a Youth Exchange to make contribution to solution of this common problem of the Europe with international collaboration to develop a dialogue among society. Based on works we carry out and the characteristics of the audience we work with, we will use music as a tool to establish intercultural dialogue to deal with Racism, because studies shows that (McKimm-Vorderwinkler,2010; Shanarani,2017) music is a powerful tool for youth to enable them to express their thoughts, feelings, their belonging to a certain group, and underline their own identity and it improves intercultural dialogue skills of different cultural groups as shared musical experiences can generate strong connection among people and enable people develop a better understanding. In order to create a Youth Exchange proposal with international cooperation, we contacted youth organizations working different ethnic groups and agreed to become partner with 5 institutions from Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, France and Slovakia. In order to determine the needs of the young people, who are the target audience of the project, and to develop the project idea in this direction, we conducted a needs analysis through a questionnaire among volunteers of partner institutions. A total of 150 youngsters, including immigrants aged 18-30, answered our survey. In this direction we identified their needs as follows; * Youngsters need to learn roots of racism * Youngsters needs to learn the problems experienced by ethnic groups in international level * Youngsters need to learn how to develop intercultural dialogue between different ethnic groups through music Based on this results, we specified objectives of the project are as follows; *To improve the knowledge, skills and attitudes of the participants about racism, human rights, conftlict resolution and intercultural dialogue *To enable participants to be informed about problems which different ethnic groups face and good practices against racism, other forms of discrimination and intercultural dialogue as well as encouraging them to combat with racism in their communities, *To enable participants to discover other cultures and establish intercultural dialogue through music, *To improve participants' musical, intercultural dialogue, creativity and teamwork skills to use music as a tool to combat with racism and promote intercultural dialogue *To inform participants about Erasmus+ oppurtunities to encourage them take part in future projects The project idea was based on to the needs to improve the quality and relevance of the skills and competences of young people to be more aware and tolerant with different cultures and identities, to understand better the concept of racism, it's effects in long term, it's reasons and how to be more aware and resilient regarding to racist issues in European level. From this perspective our project has gathered young people around topic of music to tackle with racism and it's effects. During and after the mobility, our participants created intercultural dialogue through music, they achieved several tasks, created new musical outcomes to encourage their local communities to be more aware about racism. Moreover, this outcomes has encouraged other people to create cultural dialogue and understand each other better, to avoid hate speech and promote tolerance. We have created 3 songs and movies as well as digital booklet. Our participants wrote lyrics, wrote scripts, created scenarios, shooted videos, exchanged different ideas and created new musical outcomes addressing our project topic. This outcomes has been shared with wider public through partner organisations. We recieved good feedback from our participants, partner organisations, local stakeholders in partner countries and from Anefore, the National Agency in Luxembourg. We have been invited to the radio broadcast in order to explain and share the outcomes and our experiences within the project.
