Sales to Success focused on training sales and other entrepreneurial skills of youth workers as well as equipping them with skills, tools, and competencies that they can use in order to develop the entrepreneurial skills of unemployed young people, this way promoting entrepreneurship as a response to the alarmingly high rates of youth unemployment across Europe. By supporting youth workers and our partner organizations in developing the entrepreneurial competencies of young people, especially those facing fewer opportunities, we built a pathway to their active participation and shift their position in society - from a passive group in need of external help to overcome challenges - to a group that has resources to improve their own lives and involve others. Why sales skills? While most people associate sales skills with the ''used-car salesman'' stereotype and think of pressuring and manipulating people into buying something they don’t need or can’t afford, in reality, these are extremely valuable soft-skills that support individuals in creating win-win situations, leading and driving change, and showing the benefits of a particular idea. (HBR,Forbes) Furthermore, having the ability to create a good first impression, form connections, listen and analyze one`s needs, present your idea, and communicate effectively are beneficial in a variety of settings: f.e. convincing peers that a particular decision makes sense, motivating your team, involving people in a project, and even in a job interview - to show why you would be the best candidate. This project was created due to the multiple issues that both us and our partners identified: - There are a lot of young people who have acquired quality education, yet they lack skills and competencies required by the labour market and/or business world, thus creating a situation where there is lots of unrealized economic potential and increasing the number of young people who are passive members of society, leading to further economic difficulties for the involved individuals as well as local communities. (A Work in Progress, Salto) - While youth work activities have dramatically improved some of the entrepreneurial skills of youngsters, there is still a gap between what is necessary in the business world and what is offered by non-formal education. (Taking the future into their own hands, EC) - Forbes, Business Insider and LinkedIn have mentioned sales skills as the key competence required in entrepreneurship and quality employment, yet due to the bad connotation, these skills have been completely neglected in the Entrepreneurial Learning programs offered by non-formal education. Through this project, we aimed to provide a solution to these problems and improve and extend the supply of high-quality Entrepreneurial Learning opportunities tailored to the needs of fewer opportunity youngsters so that they enhance their key competencies and have higher chances of actively participating in the economy - whether it is by creating their own business, setting up a side project or getting a fitting job. Our idea was that disadvantaged youngsters participate in such Entrepreneurial Learning programs, growing through them and developing their skills, thus receiving the needed support to be actively involved in the economy and creating further opportunities for themselves and others. This way we aimed to stimulate a line of inclusion through which more and more youngsters change their situations, step into entrepreneurship and active participation, and inspire other young people to follow them. Objectives of the project were: - to train the sales and other entrepreneurial skills of 30 youth workers (30% of them facing fewer opportunities); - to provide youth workers with practical skills in developing Entrepreneurial Learning programmes tailored to the needs of fewer opportunity youngsters aiming for their active participation in the economy; - to put in practice these skills by developing 7 business projects during the TC; - to exchange tools, methods and practices between the involved organizations; - to promote youth entrepreneurship as a way of fighting youth unemployment; - to strengthen partners' ability to create high-quality Entrepreneurial Programmes tailored to the needs of fewer opportunities individuals; - to improve the entrepreneurial competencies of our partners` target groups by organizing 10 mini-trainings/seminars (1 per each country); - to promote the results of the training course by writing 10 articles (1 per each country); - to evaluate the project through 30 Youthpasses & Questionnaires
