We are ONE! - becoming active citizens, was a project which was held in Malta but was designed along with other young people representing their NGOs and who are full of energy and enthusiasm. We aimed on transmitting that same energy and motivation to the young people who joined the youth exchange in Malta. The work had already started online in order to come up with this project idea and workshops. However we also created a facebook page for direct messaging and online sharing. The youth exchange will be held in July 2022. Being an active citizen does not end with voting in the local election but also being responsible towards society and the environment. Such responsibility can be through being involved in college/work/university activities, being an active participant in your youth club. A youth that strives at making a better community, by understanding their needs and helping them out, hence working towards a healthier, more respectful society. Also working towards a cleaner more sustainable environment. Aim: The main aim of ONE! was to show participants the importance of active citizenship. We wanted the youth to know that they can be part of political, society and environment life and that it’s possible for them to make positive changes in their society and environment. Additionally, we found out how government works on youth activities, what is their priorities and methodology. The aim of the project was to work together as young people on ideas on how to influence government and stakeholders and show them that there are lots of different ways of being an active citizen. The youth Exchange had a number of objectives, some of which were: 1. Enhance inter-cultural awareness if participants and promote solidarity and active youth participation; 2. Encourage youth to actively participate in socio-ecology life once back in their country and become the voice of change; 3. Create a space for inter-cultural learning and understanding; 4. To promote the Erasmus+ programme as a tool to work on active citizenship; 5. To bring closer young people from different backgrounds and abilities while also earning new knowledge; 6. To improve our social networking skills in order to be closer to the young people; 7. Intercultural discovery, of realities, issues and priorities of the participants; 8. To support youth workers with fewer opportunities in the acquisition of competences with a view to improving their knowledge.
