Objectives

We have been regularly organising trainings with Erasmus Plus for our Volunteers Youth Workers. Each year we strive to move the goalpost a bit higher, we want to carry out this project because: We plan to organise a new annual activity for youths in Malta: an adventure camp based on outdoor education methodologies. We want to continue the development of our volunteers’ capacity in youth work We want to start organising youth exchanges within Erasmus Plus for our young beneficiaries (13-16) And in general we want to offer high quality activities that are interesting and engaging for all young people. Objectives The project aims at improving the capacity of R2S young volunteers to design, prepare, and implement non formal activities for youths based on outdoor education methodology. We plan to do this with a mobility of youth workers composed of two complementary activities that are meant to achieve the following objectives: 1) Involve 18 young volunteers from Malta over a 5 days training in Estonia; the participants will: Get acquainted with the key elements and principles of outdoor education with a specific focus on youths Learn and discuss the cultural aspects of outdoor education Learn and practice how to design, prepare and implement outdoor education activities Get to know and experiment practical activities and group games that can be integrated in their role as youth workers in Malta Learn how to use outdoor education for personal, social and relational development (self-confidence, team building, leadership, pro-activity, reflection) Exchange best practices and share experiences about non formal education with young people Network with individuals and organisations working with young people in Estonia 2) Organise a 3 days follow up activity in Malta, during this mobility 25 youth volunteers (supported and coached by the trainer from Estonia) will prepare, and implement a 2 days camping outdoor that will also involve the young beneficiaries under 16 of R2S Youth Clubs. This follow up is designed to be a real test and pilot of the adventure camp for youths we want to start organising. As such, it will serve to reinforce and spread with a larger group of volunteers the lessons learned during the first activity; at the same time it will be a way to practise and receive additional feedback from an experienced trainer in outdoor education.
