Objectives

This objectives of this project were to: 1. enable youth workers to organise (better) activities around complex, sensitive and highly charged social issues, using street art as an instrument. In this project, migration and refugees is the central topic, but after the project the youth workers are able to apply most of the gained skills and competences to other such topics as well. 2. enhance the capacity of youth workers and their organisations to involve hard to reach and disadvantaged youth in their activities by using street art as an instrument, and by doing so learn about the needs of such youth. 3. stimulate a positive dialogue on migration and refugees whilst countering polarising views (in the media) on the topic, primarily among (young) residents of the cities involved in the project, but also in the wider society. 4. increase the capacity of youth workers to develop their own views around the topic of migration - with a focus on the European perspective - and express these through the use of street art, before embedding this capacity in their organisations. 5. contribute to the revitalization of socio-economically disadvantaged urban neighbourhoods in the cities involved by collaborating with their (youth) residents to introduce beautiful works of art. 6. provide vulnerable and disadvantaged youth from the aforementioned urban areas a sense of perspective by engaging them with the opportunities that both street art and youth work offer, and stimulating them to develop their own initiatives in these fields. 7. build and strengthen cooperation among the involved partner organisations as well as local stakeholders from the cities involved in the project, and lay the basis for developing future initiatives together. In doing so, the methods, experience and best practices from (the process of organising) this project are implemented, hence contributing to improvement of the quality of youth work.
