Mens Sana in Corpore Sano is a Latin phrase which is usually translated as "a healthy mind in a healthy body". We believe that there is truth in this phrase and that physical exercises and spending time outdoors really can influence mental and psychological well-being of everyone, including young people. The modern world in which we live at the moment is very fast, full of new technologies and new systems which make our life easier. It helps us save money and be more efficient. However, all these good things also have it negative influence on everyone (youngsters included). Comparing today’s world with the world from 20-30 or even 10 years ago seems very different. It is much more expected from young people, they learn several languages at young age, go to school or university 8 hours in a day, have homework, assignments and tasks to do after getting home. They mostly communicate with their friends on Facebook, Instagram and are not meeting with them in person. Their schedules are planned weeks, if not months in advance and they don't have free time. And the pressure of the society is not to be happy or fulfilled, but to be a successful young person. The goal is to look good, have good grades, find a job or have many extra curricula activities, they need to be successful, have many hobbies and interests. And all of this sounds really good and it is accepted in our society. However, many of them have fears about their future, they get heavily depressed, they have anxiety disorders, they see themselves as failures if they don't fulfill those high expectations. If the expectations are not met, they go into the wrong direction of taking drugs, drop out from school, go to social isolation. And the age where these problems happen is becoming lower and lower. With this project we wanted to prevent these cases happening and to show to young people how spending time outdoors with their friends, going for walks, doing physical activities can help not just their physical health, but also mental. Young people are given a lot of responsibilities, but not tools of how to take care of their emotional and spiritual wellbeing. On this project we wanted to address those needs having the following objectives: 1. Raise awareness among youngsters about their well being 2. Raise awareness among parents about the wellbeing of their children 3. Give tools to young people how to handle their wellbeing. 4. Encourage young people to become more physically active and spend more time outdoors 5. Multiplicate and share the results from this project in the local societies of participants and partner organizations This project was a combination between raising the awareness about the issue that some of the young people are not even aware and providing tools for the youngsters to do at home, and to multiplicate the results in their local communities upon their return home.
