Objectives

Background: Youth for Diversity Agder (YDA) was started by a group of youngsters in high school with the motivation to make a difference in the local and international community. In the original mission statement written in 2017 YDA's objective was to break down misconceptions and stereotypes about marginalized minorities, and work towards a better future by the use of local and global community work. After hosting our first YE let's get it started in 2019, we changed the objective to" YDA works to break down misconceptions around and discrimination towards minorities and work towards a sustainable and environmentally friendly future with the use of digitalization through local and global community work." YDA sees the value in focusing on sustainability and wishes to show this by focusing on it in all of our local actions- Greener the Winner is an example of this. Greener The Winner (GTW) was created as a continuation of the youth exchange in Hungary titled My World, Your World, Our Earth in 2019. The previous project had similar themes as GTW including climate change, hunger, unequal distribution of resources, etc., using the storytelling tool. We aimed to involve almost the same group of participants in the project in 2019 to continue building their international bilateral partnership. We really wanted to give youngsters at the lower bound of the age restriction a chance to participate and experience Erasmus+ (we had participants between 13-28 years of age). In the dissemination of the project in 2019 and the creation of GTW, the youngsters wished to continue the next step in their joint learning/partnership. The feedback expressed their interest in the artistic methods and local action. Objectives of the YE/What we wanted to achieve: - To give the opportunity to young people to learn how to express themselves in different ways regarding topics of their interest. In this case: the fight against climate change- using the tools of mural painting and artistic performance. - To give young people the possibility to continue their established cooperation: uphold an international partnership over time. - To let young people implement their own ideas they have worked on as a group of young people in their local communities and together over the past years (since 2019 and COVID) - To give the young people the learning opportunity to become future leaders by developing their competencies through the activities. - To be involved in the implementation of an international project in all its phases that enable them to learn about how to plan their future actions - To learn more about each other's cultures by working together - To encourage them to feel and practice their European Identity: this is especially interesting for the Norwegian youth who often don't identify with their European identity due to the country's absence in the EU
