The idea for the project was "sprouting" in us since 2015, when for the first time our association (SIKMA) supported the organization of the International Festival of Dance Theaters, Open Stage in Tarnów. At that time, we had the opportunity to actively participate in the festival, which is an event presenting contemporary dance, but also classical ballet. It was then that the spark in us was "lit" to transfer our dance inspirations to the design space under the Erasmus + program. However, we lacked partners to be able to implement our plans. This changed only at the turn of 2018/2019, when we established cooperation with organizations from Portugal, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Romania whose main field of interest is activities in the field of culture and art, including dance. Then we returned to our idea, which we "infected" with partner organizations. To our delight, they responded to our idea very enthusiastically. At the initiative of our Polish group, our friends from Slovakia and the Czech Republic joined the project, and this is how a group was created that took up the challenge of implementing the "Open Stage" project. The fact that the main work tool with which we will carry out most of the tasks during the youth exchange will be dance and that dance will be the central element of our project was obvious to us from the very beginning. However, for a long time among all the groups taking part in the "Open Stage" task, we thought about choosing the substantive scope of our project. In the end, we came to the conclusion that we want to take the issues of gender equality and equal opportunities to our "workshop" on the occasion of the "Open Stage" project. Groups from the Czech Republic and Slovakia played a large part in making this decision. The name of the project refers to the name of the festival mentioned above, but it is also an excellent illustration of how we intend to implement our project. Well, our project will be an "Open Stage" for each participant taking part in the task, a chance to develop a passion for dance, showcase your sensitivity and expressiveness, broaden your knowledge of issues related to equal opportunities and gender equality, participate in completely new experiences. During the project, each participant will be on the "stage" (the real and the metaphorical one) having a real chance to make an imprint in the design space and thus contribute to the achievement of the goals and results that we set for ourselves. What are these goals? Firstly, during the project, we intend to create a safe and comfortable space for us to acquire and expand such competences as: learning to cooperate in international groups, expanding project and European awareness, developing language competences, gaining knowledge on topics related to gender equality and equal opportunities, and giving these issues their own interpretation, building an attitude of tolerance to different views, different sensitivity, upbringing, customs, culture. Secondly, we want to learn how to use dance to overcome our own limitations (including shyness, fear of public appearances, stereotypical way of thinking) as well as expressing our own expressiveness, conveying important content to us and influencing the environment in which we live every day through dance. Thirdly, we intend to make new international acquaintances, activate new layers of motivation to act, learn how to influence recipient groups both locally, regionally, nationally and internationally through project activities. Our project is in line with the objectives of the Erasmus + program because: it has an international dimension (on the occasion of the "Open Stage" task, we have established cooperation within organizations that have not cooperated with each other so far), it provides us with a group of 42 young people from as many as 7 mobility opportunities within the framework of the project, is aimed at promoting a wide linguistic diversity of the EU and intercultural awareness, provides equal access to project activities also for those of us who come from disadvantaged backgrounds, responds to the need to create a European learning area, enables us to raise the level of key competences and skills and intercultural dialogue as well as closer cooperation between our organizations. As a result of the project, we will understand the essence of issues related to equal opportunities and gender equality, and we will also form our own autonomous opinion on this subject, we will learn to use dance to express ourselves, formulate and promote the message we care about, overcome our own limitations. We also intend to learn how to use dance as a universal language that allows cooperation and communication with each other.
