Objectives

In summer 2020, young people gathered around the organisation ŚL WOPR witnessed an accident on the Black Sea in Primorsko, during which people drowning in the struggle for life needed help and first aid action. In the group of young people observing the accident there were also two people from Bulgaria. None of the observers was able to behave professionally, rescuing the sinking people. During this meeting and the conversation of their peers, it turned out that a similar tragedy occurred in the summer on the Baltic Sea in Sianożęty. These incidents made young people reflect and provoked discussions on how to deal with dangerous situations in water. The young people decided to learn how to react in such situations, so that in future they would not stand helplessly on the shore, but would react and help save human lives. They understood that the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge is the basis for action, so they turned to the Association ŚL WOPR in Radom, asking for support in mutual transfer of knowledge and implementation for practical actions. The project is to disseminate knowledge among as many inhabitants of the region as possible, in a comprehensive way, with the support of professionals and specialist equipment. The project aims to draw particular attention of young people to the dangers of water recreation. The aim of both organisations participating in the project is to support 28 people aged between 13 and 25 to realise their common desire - to meet to promote proper behaviour in water, including the principles of safe swimming or bathing, safe sailing and water sports, and ultimately reduce drowning accidents. The main objectives of the project are: - to convey the necessary rescue knowledge in a non-formal way, - to learn how to give first aid, - to pay attention to the needs of the other person, - to increase the level of water safety for as many people as possible, - to promote safe behaviour in water, including the principle of safe swimming, bathing and safe navigation, - to promote active recreation by water: sea, reiver, lake etc. - to promote a sports and healthy lifestyle, - to popularise pro-ecological actions and attitudes, taking into account environmental protection, - to learn the principles of sailing as a responsible sport, promoting education on safe behaviour in water, - to disseminate information on safe and responsible behaviour in water. Young people want to meet important goals and needs: - learning from each other, including good attitudes, cooperation, - sharing knowledge and experience, - developing responsibility for the performance of the assigned tasks (e.g. team leader), - creating a sense of equality for all members of the group, to overcome shyness, lack of confidence, - developing creativity and entrepreneurship, developing attitudes of openness and communication skills, - improving the ability to build social relations, - improving the knowledge of English language, - mastering basic knowledge of new foreign languages (Poles - Bulgarian and Bulgarians - Polish), - getting to know the culture and customs of the youth of a European Union country (Bulgaria and Poland), - developing a sense of European citizenship and identity, - developing skills in using a variety of media (Internet, press, meetings), - promoting and creating awareness of the Erasmus+ programme and increasing the participation of young people in it. The project being implemented has a bearing on the objectives of the Erasmus+ programme because youth exchanges will enable young people: - to develop skills and acquire new ones, - to discover new cultures, customs and lifestyles through peer learning, - to strengthen values such as solidarity, friendship, responsibility for the other person and the group, etc, - to create opportunities to talk and learn about integration and diversity.
