Objectives

We carried out the training "Small Towns. Big Problems. Great Solutions" firstly because we live and work in small towns, secondly, the young people we work with struggle with big problems on a daily basis, thirdly, we as organizations and individuals working for young people we needed "big solutions" and new tools to be able to create a space within which young people would have the opportunity to develop. The project "Small Towns. Big Problems. Great Solutions" turned out to be a positive response to all three phenomena/needs mentioned above. By implementing the "Small Towns. Big Problems. Great Solutions" project, we managed to a) reverse the negative trends in the field of equalizing development opportunities for the youth we work with on a daily basis, b) support the youth we work with on a daily basis in overcoming educational limitations (related to with learning English), c) reduce the distance between young people we work with on a daily basis and young people from big cities, d) equip youth workers operating within our organizations with tools to support young people in the process of learning English. The knowledge in the field of various methods of learning English that we acquired during the implementation of the training course "Small Towns. Big Problems. Great Solutions" already works to open countless doors to self-realization for our pupils on almost all levels of life (private, educational, professional, as part of activities for NGOs, etc.). The knowledge, skills and experience that we acquired during the training course "Small Towns. Big Problems. Great Solutions" is the answer we wanted when starting the project in relation to the problem of the low level of teaching English in local schools, an archaic approach to teaching methods and economic obstacles faced by young people and their families, preventing a large group of them from pursuing further training in this area on their own. The "Small Towns. Big Problems. Great Solutions" training course prepared us to help local youth learn English. "Armed" with the knowledge, skills and experience gained from participating in the "Small Towns. Big Problems. Great Solutions" training course, we are able, using modern tools in the field of English language learning, to open many directions of development for young people without having to leave them homeland and moving to other more developed parts of our countries. During the training course "Small Towns. Big Problems. Great Solutions" we got to know a wide spectrum of methods of learning English in order to be able to adjust a specific learning method to the expectations and needs of the young people we work with at the moment. During the training course, we also managed to create training materials on methods of learning English, which can now be used by our organizations as well as all those people and institutions who deeply care about the fate of young people living in our towns. Knowing various, modern methods of teaching English, we are able to equip young people living in our towns with "fishing rods" with which young people can independently "fish" for development opportunities in an unlimited number of "waters". This is a huge success of our project.
