By implementing the training course "Listen" we wanted to focus on and contribute to processes of deep listening, for participants to connect to themselves, to other people and nature. The training has been divided into different parts called: 1. Listen to myself. With a main focus on exploring our minds, bodies, emotions, spirits as well as our strengths, dreams, values and building a stronger understanding of what is deep inside us. 2. Listen to another person. With a main focus on developing skills of active listening, empathy, recognising and reacting to different emotions. Participants got an opportunity to know, understand and practise basic techniques of coaching and nonviolent communication. 3. Listen to the community. We connected to local change-makers and activists who have been involved in processes of deep listening and serving their local community. With participants, we collectively built our own solutions for participants' and partners' community challenges using the Design Thinking methodology. 4. Listen to nature. With a main focus on connecting with nature, understanding its evolution, exploring the potential of permaculture and design principles, studying solutions implemented at the training venue and experiencing them through designed hands-on activities at the natural farm. The project and programme were designed to meet expressed issues and needs within our partnership and communities. Listen supported processes of strengthening participants and enabling them to face and overcome the following issues and needs: -Facing burn out and its symptoms coming from: a lack of connection and listening to ones own body, emotions, mind, but also ones values, dreams and strengths; -Growing feelings of loneliness, especially in times of social isolation due to coronavirus; -Building social projects that are disconnected from real needs of the community because we are not able to listen deeply enough; -Disconnection from nature, decreasing our sense of well-being, raising a.o. our anxiety levels on one hand, and not supporting processes of nature preservation on the other hand, having a negative impact on nature and therefore our natural habitat, Earth. Objectives of the Listen project were to: -start listening and building connections with ourselves, listening to our mind, body, emotions and spirits; recognising our strengths, dreams and values and how they can be used in our daily life, including our work with youth; -start listening and building connections with another person, developing skills of mindfulness, empathy and deep listening, recognising emotions of other people, learning how to use coaching and nonviolent communication in an effective way; -start listening and building connections with our community, recognising its needs and planning social projects based on deep listening and empathy using the Design Thinking methodology; -start listening and building connections with nature, recognising that we are all part of nature, getting to know permaculture concepts which unites all kinds of listening.
