Objectives

Histérico - Arts Association is a youth association which was created with the purpose of giving young people daily skills to become more active and conscious in their role in European society, emphasizing the importance of cultural diversity and the inclusion of people with fewer opportunities to achieve a more integrated society. The project "Integration Through Arts" foresaw, in communion with the principles of creation of the association, the participation of young people who, for reasons related to their social and economic condition, life events and other issues, would not have the possibility to integrate projects of this nature. During its activity and throughout its more than 10 years of history, Histérico - Arts Association develops daily a work of inclusion and development of abilities in the young generations of the city of Fundão and in the cities and communities of the region. In this way, it organizes throughout time several social and volunteering activities, the possibility of international mobility, and mainly it enables the insertion of young people in cultural groups related to arts and theater, groups which enable and develop skills in their participants related to non-formal and informal education. It is important to mention social activities which Histérico - Associação de Artes promotes with specific programs together with parish councils and communities of the region. In this particular case, within the structure of Integration Through Arts, we find solutions to several challenges which the youth generation is exposed to, meeting the priorities for 2014-2020 for the European Social Fund. In addition, we address challenges that are in communion with the goals of the Erasmus+ program and the priorities of the National Agency. In this way we succeeded in: . Encourage young people to be active members in society; . Encourage mutual understanding between young people from different countries; . Improving the knowledge, skills and competences of young people. Thus, during the development of the project "Integration Through Arts", we have set the following challenges as a response to the above objectives. Promote the Active participation of young people: In the "Integration Through Arts" project we planned the personal stimulation of the participants with the aim of creating and fostering the European youth generation, more active young people who are aware of their reality and roles and their rights. Our main intention was for young people to understand the importance they play in society and the need they have to find solutions to the problems they face daily, in this case using the arts as a tool to understand the importance of the tools used in the performing arts and transpose them into the integration process. Encourage mutual understanding between young people: In the "Integration Through Arts" project we proposed the performing arts as a means of communication capable of connecting all participants, regardless of their culture or place of origin. Our goal was to create a scenario where all participants could share and learn in a creative, tolerant and respectful way. In this challenge we considered the multicultural factor as an asset for generating new opportunities and sharing new experiences. To provide young people with knowledge, skills and competences: With the project "Integration Through Arts" our goal was the transmission of technical knowledge, skills and competences about group dynamics and the benefits that group work has in obtaining better results. It was also designed to work on civic, social and intercultural skills in young people to promote greater integration of group dynamics. In addition to technical knowledge, we encourage young people to find new ways to solve common problems in society. In this way, we promoted the creation of a temporal space where young people could mature personally to become part of a more just and inclusive model of society. The preparation of the whole project, forms of knowledge transmission, and activities developed was possible through a direct dialogue and cooperation within the network of partners. In addition, we have created a network of contacts between participants and organizations in order to present and share good practices related to creativity, integration and teamwork.
