It is widely recognized that Emotional Intelligence (EI or EQ) is a vital tool for success which has a crucial role for an individual’s personal and professional development. It was believed that human intelligence is based solely on the knowledge of any given person. In 1920s,psychologist Edward Thorndike described another form of intelligence-which all people have, but not everyone has it in equal quantity. He called it "Social Intelligence". however, It took years until science could draw conclusions from Thorndike’s social intelligence to EQ and realized the important impact this form of intelligence has on the entire life. According to Daniel Goleman- a psychologist and journalist who popularized the term, “Emotional intelligence refers to how well we handle ourselves and our relationships.” It is another kind of brain power, but rather than helping us solve puzzles it possesses ability to harness and manage emotions, recognize others’ emotions and understand the relationship between thoughts and emotions. People with high EQ can enjoy a variety of benefits:better sense of self-awareness,superior regulation of emotions, ability to understand others, increased motivation, adaptability, commitment, communication, leadership, team capabilities, broader social network and a higher income. Some studies illustrate that EQ has more important role than IQ when it comes to succeeding in school, university or workplace. Even though only some people have naturally good EQ skills, it is possible for everyone to develop their EQ by support of specific education. In the last two decades the concept of EQ has been embraced by the significant number of educators. in the form of programmes focusing on ‘social & emotional learning’ (SEL) skills It is worth mentioning that In 2002 UNESCO launched a worldwide initiative to promote SEL, emphasizing on the importance of someone mastering these essential skills for living; in addition to this, many US states have introduced SEL learning as mandatory in the curriculum. This YE clearly reflected the critical role of emotional intelligence (EQ) among young people. Emotional intelligence is the ability to have one's own feelings, but also to understand and evaluate feelings correctly someone else. In addition, EQ also allows you to navigate properly in today's complex world of young people because it helps them pursue a common goal. it covers many different aspects, for example: building relationships, self–reflection, self-management, perception – also internal and external, self-determination, empathy. In addition to this, emotional intelligence is one of the basic conditions for leading an independent and independent life. It includes appropriate use of one's own resources of strength, time and emotions to adequately respond to the situation within the framework of a specific goal. The completed project is the result of the opinions of young people and the current challenges facing them. It fully corresponded with the legal basis defining the E+ Program 2014-2020, with the objectives and tasks for reference activities, i.e. EU Regulation No. 1288/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council.
