Objectives

The "BeReady - Pychological First Aid Action Plan for Youth Workers" project was designed to offer multidimensional support to the participant youth workers and the partner organizations to develop their competences and build teams that are prepared to approach any crisis situation while working in groups. The challenges that the last years brought showed how important Psychological First Aid response is in all cases, especially, when working with youngsters. As youth workers, we feel the responsibility to act and support the young people and the communities (our and struggling communities) through this and other difficult times that may come. This is the main reason we designed and implemented this project, to be prepared and guide our fellow youth worker to act when it is most needed, by providing the practical tools and strategies for it. The project was initially designed with a duration of 12 months, that, due to the pandemic restrictive context, hat to be prolonged to 24 months. 9 organizations from 9 countries were involved and we had 29 participants in the mobility. Our objectives for the project were: 1. Providing knowledge about psychological first aid approaches and their use in emergency situations applicable in youth work and beyond; 2. Exercising and improving the skills in first intervention in emergency situations, creating an adaptable action plan that they can implement in any setting or situation, with focus on youth work; 3. Increase awareness of the participants about their role, as well as on the intervention and training possibilities utilizable to support their groups or community in emergency situations. Our objectives supported the aim and priorities of E+, KA1. We focused on the priorities of the EU’s strategy for 2019-2027 through this project, particularly on: I. Increasing the engagement, connection and empower the youth through YWs and their organizational work to participate actively in tackling the social issues of their community, country and Europe, with focus on intervening in emergency situations; II. Integrating innovative methods in YW that tackle critical issues which affect youth, creating opportunities for YP to get involved no matter their background or situation; III. Creating synergies between the emergency responder institutions and social org to address actively the critical issues we are facing on all levels. Moreover, we addressed the horizontal priorities of the program through: focusing on common values like peace and equality, promoting an inclusive environment and non-discrimination, aiming the development of social, civic and intercultural competences - through our activities, and most importantly, addressing present critical social issues and promoting the activation and engagement of the youth workers and young people.
