The aim of this project was to increase the participation of Roma youth in local, national and European decision-making. The objectives of our project were: 1. To encourage a dialogue between the 25 participants from 6 European countries and politicians, during the youth exchange, for a better understanding of the voting process and active participation; 2. The development of the civic spirit among the 25 young people of Roma ethnicity, during the 8 days of the youth exchange 3. Increasing the knowledge of the 25 young Roma people about the importance of voting 4. To provide a learning dimension about state institutions and how they are interconnected, for the 25 young Roma participants in the youth exchange time; Our project has met the objectives of the Erasmus + program by involving young people with fewer opportunities, of Roma ethnicity, and by addressing their participation in political life at local, national and European level. Moreover, the project contributed to the European strategy of involving young people in civil society in the democratic and decision-making process by: - developing mechanisms for engaging in dialogue with young people and facilitating their participation in shaping national policies - supporting youth organizations, including local and national youth councils; - promoting the participation of underrepresented youth groups, youth organizations in political life, - promoting active citizenship, intercultural dialogue, social inclusion and solidarity, through learning mobility of young people - contributing to the increase of self-confidence and self-esteem - promoting the assumption of common values, equality, non-discrimination and social inclusion in general The needs of our project were: - Lack of information of Roma youth about state institutions and how they are interconnected - Lack of self-esteem and confidence in their decision-making power among Roma youth - Lack of interest in getting involved in political life and in the decision-making process among Roma youth (generated by the marginalization they face every day, which makes them disinterested and careless) - Lack of knowledge in the field of civic education and the importance of voting participation among Roma youth
