Participatory Photography for Social Practice is a Youth Exchange, which will involve Programme countries with main aim to empower participants to take actions and develop initiatives by and with Roma marginalized young people tackling the issues of social exclusion and marginalization in their local communities by using participatory photography as a tool for social practices. The proposed YE aims to gather 35 young people, youth leaders, volunteers and youth activists who working with marginalized groups, especially working with Roma and to teach them new digital skills in the form of photography and how to apply this method in their work with the community. In recent years, the Roma issue has become an important issue on the agenda of the European Union, and in many of its Member countries. The EU has long stressed a need for better Roma integration, and has since 2011 had an EU Framework for National Roma integration Strategies in place. Still there are a lot of challenges that are not resolved. According to a recent EU wide survey, one out of three Roma have experienced harassment. Fighting stereotypes prejudice and countering hate speech and hate crime is crucial for Roma to be able to live their lives to the fullest, free from discrimination. This goes both for discrimination among the public and within public institutions. Marginalized and vulnerable at the best of times, the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic poses particular challenges for Europe’s Roma populations. This project is based on the needs of partners and their members to learn more about how to use participatory photography for social change and how to bring new perspectives in their daily work with a diverse target group who are belonging to a category of young people with fewer opportunities. Participatory photography is an engaging approach that enables people to share their perspectives and express their aspirations in ways that are not constrained by their ability to share these within the confines of conventional interactive processes or the written word. It can inspire and lead to new initiatives by people to improve their situation. Through the photo-stories, the participants will demonstrate the plurality of Roma/Siniti stories and how these can contribute to the larger social engagement on better Roma/Siniti inclusion Objectives: Promote participatory photography as a tool for addressing social issues and as a creative way to acquire knowledge and skills useful for persons' professional development To explore and share national realities related to Roma/Sinti through participatory photography to create an online photo booklet about different Roma realities and challenges To inform public audience about using photography as a social practice by organizing photo exhibition Foster mutual better understanding of social and cultural situations of Roma/Sinti in countries of participants and develop a sense of empathy, tolerance and stimulate intercultural dialogue To promote New Erasmus+ Programme
