Originally planned for 2020, this project is a follow-up to a similar Exchange in 2019. Due to Covid-19 we postponed a year, which we used to improve the content of our project as well. Baltic Research, Round 2 (take 2) has been set up to build upon our experience and network gained in 2019. That sustainability-themed sailing-based Exchange proved to be such a big success that we wanted to keep at it and go for the second round of personal growth, international understanding and environmental awareness. Young people from Sweden, Ireland and the Netherlands went on board the traditional tall ship Ingo in Gothenburg with open minds, just waiting to be filled with new skills, knowledge and experiences. On board, they practiced Sail Training, learned intercultural communication and contributed to plastic research of the seas with a marine scientist sent by our sustainability partner The Ocean Movement. They visited multiple towns (big and small) and spent time out at sea in a secluded environment of the ship. The program was intense, but flexible and based on the participants’ learning goals, giving them the chance to find the sustainability answers, independence and international experience they were looking for.
