Objectives

The aim of Empathy in ACTion was: To provide Theatre of the Oppressed tools and innovative theatrical pedagogy skills to youth workers that work directly with young people from minorities at risk of social exclusion, encouraging them to diversify their strategies and methods, aiming to minorities’ social inclusion and empowerment. Our objectives were: -To introduce the methodology of Theatre of the Oppressed to youth workers working with young people at risk of social exclusion, presenting it as an innovative resource for youth work, with broad potential from the social, pedagogical and artistic point of view. -To provide youth workers with practical skills in designing, implementing and facilitating Theatre of the Oppressed methods, sharing how to adapt them to their work with youth from minorities at risk of social exclusion. -To apply the knowledge and practical skills acquired by the youth workers by creating and facilitating inclusive workshops in their organisations during the Local Action Phase, directly reaching youth from minorities at risk of social exclusion. -To develop a powerful written resource with Theatre of the Oppressed Methodology, gathering the workshops created and tested by the youth workers, sharing it with organisations working for the social inclusion and empowerment of youth from minorities at risk social exclusion. -To start an international network of organisations working on empowerment and social inclusion of youth from minorities, with the focus on using Theatre of the Oppressed and other artistic methods in youth work.
