Objectives

Ever since March 2020, the COVID-19 outbreak evidently has been presenting a massive challenge for all the participating organisations. Almost overnight, it has completely changed the way we must work. New obstacles have been put up between the young people and the vital support that the organisations provide. Despite these challenges, it is clear that the crisis also provides an opportunity for the development of more flexible learning solutions that can make distance learning more effective. However, with sharing information about the daily work, the participating organisations have identified common issues. Such as facing difficulties to implement distance learning activities, since they lack digital competencies, and that they are not very familiar with digital tools and methods for bigger engagement of younger people and delivering quality educational content online. Digital Boost to Youth Work (Acronym: DigiBoost) is a training course that will help the youth workers overcome these obstacles by providing guidance and practical experience on how to transfer the youth work online. As a partnership, we believe that quality youth work that meets younger people’s needs must, in this modern era, include digital considerations. This does not mean that every youth worker should be a digital expert. It rather means that there's a recognition of the fact that younger people are growing up in a digital era and that they need support to navigate the online aspects of their lives. As well as that, analyzing the online information/interaction is becoming increasingly central to the youth work. However, alongside these needs and opportunities, there is also a lack of competence, knowledge, strategic planning and know-how to enable the youth work sector to fully embrace these developments. Therefore, the specific project objectives will promote quality youth work through supporting open and innovative practices in a digital era: - Provide innovation in distance learning and an effective alternative path to wider opportunities for non-formal learning, - Improve the digital competences and skills of youth workers, including those with fewer opportunities, - Enhance the capacity of the youth workers and organisations in their support for young people (especially in times of the COVID-19 pandemics), - Encourage quality improvements in youth work. We are aiming to improve the level of key competences and skills of young people, including those with fewer opportunities; enhance the international dimension of youth activities and enhance the capacity of youth workers and organisations in their support for young people and foster quality improvements in youth work.
