Objectives

Boys and young men grow up today in a female environment. Even though the stereotypical concept of male and female roles are (fortunately) changing, still thanks to the very high divorce rate, kids stay in the care of their mothers. If you add the time, that boys spend at school, where according to the last OECD study 82% of teachers are female, it seems we are missing men in the education of boys and young men. This means missing role models, from which they can learn, see how to solve conflicts, how to stand for the right thing in difficult situations, how to show emotions, be part of the household tasks, and handle physical power and aggressivity... then they more likely get to addictions, spend more time in online wolrd, ideas about relationships get from porn and ideas how to live their lives from their peers, which are same immature as they are. They don´t experience an environment, where young men openly, with mutual support share what they face in their lives and how to solve it. And then they grow into immature, selfish, self-centred hedonists, who only focus on their own needs and pleasures instead of being beneficial also for their community and being able to face negative phenomenons in our society. These were some of the reasons which led us to create an experiential course Transition - on the way to Men, which we successfully organised for 3 years. As this topic resonates also in public and media, different men approached us asking how we do it. What works and what does not? And there came the idea to react to this need and create a course where we can share our know-how. To motivate other men, to focus more on young men on the edge of adulthood, share our know-how, what works and what not and let them experience most of the program on their skin. And get methodological support and try some of it with their group of boys or young men.
