Objectives

The project was inspired by trainers and participants that met during a PWD social entrepreneurship project in Slovakia in October 2018. The mobility was focused on youth with a disability, the social business that support and help them and ways how to foster their inclusion into society and in the labor market. The topic has been so interesting and discovering for many and they decided to go deeper into the topic of youth with disabilities and lack of equity. During the last day when there were sessions on brainstorming on new PWD projects everyone noticed that there is a lack of a standardization of the terminology used while working with people with disability. At the beginning we decided to focus on a project where the main aim will be discussing the terminology we used when we work on an international and national project for people with disability. The idea of the project was to develop skills in creating stories, reviews, essays, workshops, videos, presentations, and informational campaign for promoting acceptance, politically sensitive and inclusive speech regarding PWD subjects, using agreed upon terminology. Terminology that everyone will feel comfortable reading and spreading. We wanted to raise the awareness to youth workers and trainers for the importance of standardizing the terminology used while working with people with disability and how this knowledge can be implemented in practical youth work. Another important objective we wanted to achieve was to encourage young people to get an active participation in society, and especially to empower youth with a disability to take an active role in their communities in fighting discrimination. Training was held using non-formal education methodology. The project had a strong impact on its participants but also local communities, partner organizations and other stakeholders interested in topic of activation the people with disability trough using the right language. Through this several other objectives were tackled like raising awareness of the key competencies and develop different methods that can be used in practice within the sensitive terminology activities and gaining more knowledge and developing new skills regarding discrimination, prejudice, stereotypes of the PWD community. All those objectives were closely related with the Erasmus objectives to foster quality improvements, innovation excellence and internationalization at the level of education and training institutions. this section asks for information about all the stages of the project: implementation of main activities including practical arrangements, participants' profile, impact, dissemination of the results and future plans.
