Our team of medical professionals knew how invaluable and important first aid knowledge is to all of us as individuals and to our community. First aid allows you to help people who are injured in an accident or emergency until professional help arrives. First aid skills can be applied anywhere, whether at home, at work or in public places, so the more people its foundations, the safer the community. Despite the constant repetition and raising of awareness that knowing how to provide first aid is important and our duty, a problem still arises and people do not know how, are afraid, are unsure or even unwilling and indifferent to give first aid. Through the training of youth workers and leaders, we wanted to improve awareness and skills in this area so that, if necessary, they know what to do in a given situation. They will be able to apply all acquired knowledge, skills and techniques in their work with communities and their organizations at the national and international level. The main goal of the project was to increase the competences of youth workers in the field of first aid and to create a "First Aid Toolkit for Youth Workers" with informal education methods in the field of first aid education. Since it is equally important to know how to respond to injuries - accidental conditions, as well as to acute non-injury conditions, various workshops and activities focused on the ethical aspects of first aid - critical thinking, the effectiveness of the provision of aid, an emphasis on one's own safety and putting attention values of the other person. An important aspect was selflessness in helping, a manifestation of humanism, prosociality, love for one's neighbor, the suffering, the abandoned, the injured in the sense of European culture and morality. First aid works on the same principle, is provided and unified in almost all countries of the world. An important part of the activities were also discussions on how to ensure the dissemination of experience and give yours skills further - in an effort not only to fully utilize them in their surroundings and life, but also to capitalize on them for the benefit of the entire society. This is how we achieved that even in times of crisis we will have a company that is active, willing and able to help, not just passively watch. The result of the project was, in addition to the acquired knowledge and competences of the participants, a handbook that will serve other youth workers and organizations that would like to improve their knowledge in the field of first aid, but especially as an informal way to educate other young people about this important topic.
