The general aim of our project is to contribute to the young people to produce effective, sustainable and innovative solutions to the problems they encounter in their localities. Especially in Balkan countries, countries in Eastern and Southern Europe, economic and social problems are seen together. The participation of young people, the social initiatives they will create, volunteer activities, social responsibility projects are important in terms of local intervention to these problems. However, in the EU Youth Report (2015, pp. 205-206), it is revealed that voluntary participation and the number of young people in NGOs in countries in Eastern and Southern Europe are quite low. In this context, the project consortium was selected from institutions in countries with lower voluntary participation. Young people in these partner countries are well below the European average in areas such as participation in social projects and volunteering. On the other hand, the report and data reveal that the young people living in these countries want to improve and change the regions and countries they live in, but they cannot do this to the extent they want due to various disadvantages, mainly due to economic reasons. This indicates that there is a significant potential and it is waiting to be activated. Young people's awareness and access to information about voluntary initiatives, social enterprises and sustainable social projects/models is limited. As a matter of fact, free education and materials in these fields are also limited in number, and studies that take into account the needs of young people are needed. When young people take part in professional and poorly designed activities or take initiatives, the sustainability of these activities is limited only by their own resources. As financial sustainability cannot be achieved, the participation of young people in volunteering activities is decreasing. Young people in socio-economically disadvantaged regions are in a vicious circle in terms of voluntary and social work.
