Objectives

An Aware Thinker is a person, who is aware of his/her capabilities (strengths and weaknesses) and is independent from distractions and temptations to be able to critically and creatively evaluate inputs and make decisions that are most suitable to his/hers and his/hers surroundings (from local to global) needs, based on the personal goals defined. This portrait of a young man is a destination. At the departure, however, sits another profile. It seems that people run too often on autopilot in their life. Following the expectations of their family, friends, school, employers. In this rat race, they are draining themselves down, attempting to refill their resources by sugar, coffee, crappy food, tv shows, alcohol, cigarettes, toxic relationships. This downward spiral leads them to the void from which it is hard to climb up. In Aware Thinker we used the method of community building and nature. The rules of the project were simple and challenging at the same time: No drugs No alcohol No meat No communication technology We wanted to break the self-destructive spiral and empower youth to create something meaningful. We wanted to make them Aware thinkers. Together with partners we focused on youth living in rural areas, where there is the lack of opportunities for active involvement. We created a self-sustainable community from international participants - this context allowed youth to see they are conductors of their life and have all the power to shape it as they wish, supporting them with realising what they really want from life, identifying their skills and competences and putting them to practise. Main topics were inclusion, equity, and entrepreneurial learning, but due to the created context we tackled also active citizenship, intercultural dialogue and labour market. Main Objectives - Bring together 56 young people and 14 leaders, preferably from rural areas, while aiming that at least 40% of them has fewer opportunities - Let participants identify, enhance and put it to practise their skills and competencies. - Let participants experience an international community, practise their communication and managing skills, boost their sense of solidarity and cooperation. - Empower participants in their personal development with a focus on entrepreneurial and labour competencies. - Create a Recovery Festival during the main activities for the regional community. We aimed to tackle main objectives by adopting Community Building Circles, one one-hour circles daily, in order: - To increase soft skills. - To build real connection and relationship with fellow participants. - To identify and let go of personal obstacles to authentic communication and connection. - To experience "True community" authentic connection, unusual safety and extraordinary respect. We wanted to be in line with specific objectives of Erasmus+ in the field of youth: - Improve key competencies and skills of young people with fewer opportunities. - Increase their active citizenship and employability through intercultural dialogue and cooperation. - Increase learning mobility of youths for whom it can be hard to travel abroad due to the lack of resources and possibilities. - Strengthen the connection between youth workers (represented by partners organisation) and labour market. - Enhance youth employability and career prospects, sense of initiative and entrepreneurship, self- esteem, language competences (the whole project will be led in English), enhance intercultural awareness and more active participation in society. During both Youth Exchanges we aimed to put focus on the way they are learning so they can benefit from it later in their life, and informing them about other opportunities and how to participate in similar projects.
