Objectives

AIM TC Rainbow Resilience drew from resilience counselling with LGBTQ+ people, making this information accessible and practical to apply by youth workers and educators in their daily work with young queer communities. It was full of resilience strategies, practices and activities that one can use to explore the unique resilience in oneself related to gender and sexual orientation identities, as well as how to navigate life when faced with discrimination. OBJECTIVES The project has been designed in accordance with the general objectives of the Erasmus+ and learning mobility such as: -to support the professional development of youth workers and improve the quality of youth work across Europe through innovation. During RR we introduced knowledge and strategies crucial to helping young people get through hard times as a queer or trans person. We equipped youth workers with resilience strategies dedicated to youth that help them to develop and grow, to increase overall resilience and well-being. -to enable young people to be architects of their own lives, support their personal development and growth to autonomy, discover intrapersonal and interpersonal sources of strength, and equip them with life skills to cope with a changing world. During TC participants experienced an intensive theoretical and practical learning process. The workshops enhanced not only community building and leadership skills related to helping others but also getting involved in positive social change. It gave people a voice that enables them to engage and communicate in a new way. Participants had a chance to experience these benefits for their own development and learn how to provide similar experience to young people they work with. -to increase the capacities and international dimension of the partners and enable them to offer services that better respond to the needs of their target groups. By networking with different representatives of European NGOs, each person brought back to their own organizations new ideas and tools that can be used to develop innovative activities and reach new groups or improve existing programs. NEEDS Our project addresses two important needs that were visible among youth workers actively involved in youth queer work. The first of these needs was their lack of knowledge of practical, yet innovative and "user-friendly" methods that can be employed with individuals or groups and even within local communities and be used for the benefits of their target groups. The second need was the observed reluctance to use methods promoting youth work through auto-reflection and resilience building that stems from either lack of knowledge or appreciation of their potential in youth work.
