"Say no to discrimination with non-formal education" was a youth workers mobility financed by European Commission through the Erasmus + programme. The project was 13 months long and due to the COVID-19 pandemic the mobility took place in March 2022. This Training Course brought together 5 non-govermental organizations: Anguilla Youth Business Foundation, AskYourself, Aktive Kosmos, Come Pensiamo, Positive YOUth. The problem that we wanted to address with the help of this project was: youth workers do not know how to address and find effective solutions to stop discrimination among young people. We identified a number of major causes such as: do not understand the concept of discrimination, do not know how to tackle taboo subjects, do not know ways to stop discrimination, do not understand the seriousness of discrimination, don not know how to communicate with youth on the subject, don not know how to implement complex non-formal education methods, etc. After careful consideration of all our data we’ve managed to formulate the project objectives: 1.Developing the 20 youth workers knowledge on types of discrimination, prejudice and stereotypes and its negative effects on young people. 2.Developing the youth workers skills of raising awareness about, preventing and stopping discrimination, by teaching them how to implement at least 5 non-formal methods on the topic. 3.Improving youth workers confidence, motivation and courage in stopping discrimination among youth. These objectives were consistent with the following objectives E +: • increasing the capacity to meet the needs of disadvantaged people: Our youth workers are now better prepared to tackle discrimination • a better understanding and responsiveness to social diversity: the participants had the chance to share experiences & methods in working with disadvantaged young people • by offering a wide variety of non-formal educational methods, the participants, after they went back home, they implemented activities that have given, as a goal giving power, a new voice to young people (especially the ones that are facing discrimination).
