Objectives

In the modern world, organisations need a leader and developed leadership culture according to the vision and needs of all members. A good leader motivates, inspires and builds a team in a way that it is efficient at achieving a common vision and that each member feels a sense of ownership, recognition and fulfilment. When organisations can't achieve their vision, they remain operating outside their fundamental function and fail to contribute to the development of the community and have a long term impact on society in the way they want to. This is particularly important in the case of youth workers in NGOs because they need strong motivation and continuous support to carry on with their work efficiently. Many invest a lot in their work but are often unsatisfied and exhausted because they don't know how to take care of themselves and are not properly equipped for leadership roles, so they often do not achieve the desired impact with the risk of counterproductive situations with colleagues and in their overall working methods. Motivation and proper guidance is currently the biggest hope for quality youth work and leadership as a whole. These can be provided only by wise, effective, efficient, people-oriented, and self developing positive leaders. Precisely that, is the kind of leadership that is promoted with the Joyful Leadership concept which is about the process of influencing others with joy to accomplish shared goals for the benefit of all. The Joyful Leader is the leader whose foremost motivation is to care about the people he/she have an influence on – meaning that they feel privileged to lead and serve as a leader. After the project manager attended and got to know this transformative training in Croatia in April 2019, the aim was to bring Joyful Leadership to Northern Ireland. The project objectives were to: -increase youth workers’ capacity and professional skills in the field of leadership -promote the concept of Joyful Leadership, the training cycle (manual, online course, training course), and its benefits -increase the partners' capacity to implement leadership education projects as well as their recognition in the field. The specific objectives, which are in accordance with the Erasmus+ programme and KA1 objectives, were to: -develop and deepen participants' competences in the field of leadership - by delivering highly specific workshops, simulations, personal and detailed debriefing, and individual mentoring by experienced experts -improve the professionalisation and quality of youth work across Europe - by supporting the professional development of youth workers and others with a holistic leadership training cycle -increase the capacity of participating organisations to fulfil their mission - by educating their participants to become Joyful Leaders -build networks and partnerships on local, national and international level – by taking an active approach to preparation and dissemination and hence promoting a profound impact for each participant and partner organisation -increase the understanding and responsiveness to social, linguistic and cultural diversity - by working in a multicultural, multilingual environment with participants from different backgrounds -promote European cooperation in the field of youth - by facilitating a place for sharing experience, networking, and developing new project ideas, strategies and cooperations’. -facilitate the attainment of learning outcomes in the framework of non-formal education - by using different non-formal educational methods such as simulations, discussions, role plays, brainstorming, group activities etc. -improve foreign language competences
