The participants were to apply and deepen their foreign language skills or their already acquired knowledge in practice as well as to acquire or exchange different teaching and learning methods in order to increase the quality of learning and teaching at the home institution in the long term. Another goal was to intensify the intrinsic motivation of the participants and to increase the joy of learning and working. Thanks to these mobilities, we wanted to contribute to the breaking down of national barriers and to sensitise and open both the participants of our institution and the partner institutions to "foreign" cultures. Furthermore, our institution wanted to support the development of the European education area by establishing contacts on an international level as an active member of the Erasmus network, sharing our knowledge with the programme and encouraging each other - inside and outside our institution - to participate and develop alumni activities and networks in the long term. Digital tools and learning methods should also be used to enhance collaboration (=promoting digital literacy).
Our institution is a tourism school where there are three different training focuses: The Higher School of Tourism, the Culinary Master Class and the training in "alpine ski racing" and tourism. All three branches have focal points in general education, foreign languages, tourism, business and science education as well as specialised practice (kitchen, service). Due to the aforementioned context, it is important for our institution to network and exchange on a national as well as on an international level so that we can continuously develop ourselves in the theoretical as well as in the practical area and thus guarantee a high educational quality of our institution. The title of our project "Learning without Borders" therefore reflects the philosophy of our school 100 per cent. Our Spanish teacher Ulrike Gruber completed a job shadowing placement in an educational institution near Madrid and a class of the Secondary School for Tourism visited the partner school in Barga (Italy). Both the job shadowing and the group mobility were a great success from which the participants of the mobilities and our institution as a whole benefit in the long run.
