As sharing academic experiences is central to PHDL, the Erasmus+ project features quite prominently in our internationalization strategies. Amongst other things, it helps to shape global mindsets and expands the expertise of our students and staff through cultural exchanges, skill building and language support, thus nurturing diverse attitudes and values. Call21 aimed to further implement program priorities, streamline processes and create synergies for mutual research projects while simultaneously initiating new partnerships, drawn from a more diverse range of countries. After 2020, it was paramount to get mobility numbers back to pre-COVID levels. Generally, Call21 was faced with multiple challenges: even though mobilities resumed a semblance of normality in 2022, numbers in WS 2021 were still heavily affected by lockdowns. The project’s timeframe thus poses obvious challenges to interpreting data, masking significant differences within the 26-month period, while not readily lending itself to overall comparisons with previous reports.
