Objectives

Materials (film and accompanying work materials) have been created for students and teachers to enable them to learn and teach selected aspects of food security (animal husbandry, slaughter, processing, refinement, consumption, ethics etc.). The materials are flexible and can be used without prior knowledge. They can be used in lessons, project work and events, but also for enrichment in a personal context (intercultural, social learning). Differentiated knowledge (job-oriented, competence-oriented, language-oriented) has been created for various (professional) groups and the scope for action (e.g. laws, regulations, labelling etc.) has been demonstrated.

Background

The impetus for submitting a project were food scandals, which occur over and over again and lead to various discussions in classrooms. In a survey, teachers stated that although there is a lot of information and materials on the topic of food safety, they often come from non-independent organizations. This is how the project “Food Safety - from stable and field to plate” project was created, in which scientifically based materials were created to encourage and enable trainees to exchange a wide range of perspectives, reflect on processes, form their own opinions and attitudes in professional areas of tension, reflect on processes and gain more confidence in the workplace and in the overall situation and, while also providing teachers with new topic- and subject-specific impetus, content and support.
