The project aimed to achieve several key outcomes with a focus on empowering women caregivers for successful reintegration into the labour market and improving their prospects in the workforce after the caring episode. This involves the development of a comprehensive training programme and tailored career counselling methods to strengthen the personal, social and professional competences of working-age family carers, help them recognise and validate the valuable skills gained through caregiving, improve their self-confidence on the job market and provide adequate tools to manage caregiving responsibilities and professional career. At the level of adult educators, the project aimed to increase the awareness of counsellors and trainers for the situation of working age family carers and improve their knowledge and competences in providing tailored career support and training to the target group.
In many European countries, a significant portion of long-term care for older or sick people is provided by informal caregivers, with two-thirds of this group being women. Despite their considerable contributions to our care systems and society's well-being, informal caregivers, especially those of working age, often face numerous challenges. Many are forced to sacrifice their professional lives, either by reducing their work hours or leaving their jobs altogether, and then encounter obstacles when attempting to reintegrate into the labor market. This vulnerable group is lacking the recognition and support they deserve both during and after their caregiving duties. Recognising the urgent need for specialised career guidance and re-entry assistance for female family caregivers, the project aimed to address this gap. Through a flexible programme combining career counselling, qualification, competence development, and targeted job application training, the program aims to meet the diverse needs of the target group: - Support in balancing caregiving responsibilities with paid work - Personalised career orientation support - Knowledge on career opportunities and job-application strategies
