The main goal of the project was to contribute to the inclusion of low-qualified adults into educational programmes, especially into blended learning programmes. By doing so, lifelong learning is promoted and adults are supported in staying competitive on the labour market. Specific objectives of the project were: - to highlight the fact that the prejudice that low-skilled learners are not able to participate in blended learning is still existing, and to counter this prejudice - to raise awareness that not only digital skills are necessary for successfully participating in blended learning, but also different cognitive skills - to promote positive attitudes towards blended learning - to support adult learners in developing the skills needed for blended learning - to motivate low-skilled adults to participate in continuing education - to support trainers in training low-qualified learners in blended learning mode - to provide trainers with recommendations and tools for their work with low-skilled learners
On the one hand, digitalisation is progressing rapidly which affects private life but especially also the job market. It results in the need of employees to futher educate themselves to stay competitive on the labour market. On the other hand, there is still a widening educational gap between low- and higher-skilled adults because low-qualified adults face immense barriers when it comes to continuing education. Thus, this project wanted to fight the prejudice that low-qualified adults are not able to participate in different learning settings. A special focus in the project was on blended learning as this is a learning method that has gained of high importance during last years. In addition, the project was carried out to support low-skilled adults in developing the basic digital and cognitive competences that are necessary to successfully participate in these learning settings. By developing learning materials for this target group as well as supporting materials and tools for adult educators, we wanted to contribute to the social inclusion of low-qualified adults.
