Objectives

We aimed to bridge the digital divide during job onboarding for vulnerable groups, particularly young unemployed individuals without academic backgrounds. We developed and evaluated a training program within work-related sustainability projects. These projects, focusing on sustainability, digitalisation, and innovation, allowed participants to practice course learnings, support self-management, and teamwork, and gain essential sustainability knowledge, which has become increasingly important in job profiles due to initiatives like the Green New Deal.

Background

During the pandemic, digital working became common for many through on-the-job training and home-schooling. However, unemployed youth and school leavers missed this opportunity and needed to adapt to new digital professional environments, which potential employers expected them to handle.
